Cheesy Potato Gratin

Few dishes can compete with the luxurious simplicity of a Potato Gratin. Layers of tender potatoes baked in creamy cheese sauce make this dish irresistible.

Peel and slice 4 large potatoes thinly. Grease a baking dish with butter. In a saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons butter, add 2 tablespoons flour, and whisk to form a roux. Gradually pour in 2 cups warm milk, stirring until thick. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.

Remove from heat and add 1 ½ cups grated Gruyère or cheddar cheese. Stir until melted and smooth.

Arrange a layer of potatoes in the dish, pour some sauce over, then repeat until all ingredients are used. Finish with cheese on top.

Bake at 375°F for 45 minutes or until the top is golden and bubbling. Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.

The aroma alone will make your kitchen feel like heaven. Creamy, rich, and satisfying, this potato gratin is the ultimate side dish or comfort meal on its own.
